ECOINN is “Germany’s most ecological hotel”
Since it opened, the ECOINN Hotel in Esslingen has had the lowest CO2 emissions per overnight stay of all German hotels. Baden-Württemberg Environment Minister Franz Untersteller has recognised this with an award.
“It is vital for our climate that many more hotels, but also other businesses, follow this example,” stressed Environment Minister Untersteller. The energy self-sufficient ECOINN feeds almost two thirds of the electricity it generates in its own hydroelectric plant into the public grid – which means the hotel more than offsets its residual emissions.
“This means we can rightly call ourselves an energy-plus hotel,” stresses hotel director Thomas Puchan. In addition, the ECONVENT conference venue, which belongs to the ECOINN, is certified for “green meetings”. At the beginning of the year, the Esslingen hotel already received the “DEHOGA Environment Check in Gold” for its zero-waste breakfast buffet.
