At “Impro für die besten Zwiebeln” (“Impro for the best onions”), there is more going on than chopping. Things are served up on the spot: DIE woRThopäden bring an evening of surprising stories, offbeat characters and gloriously absurd scenes to Esslingen.
Nothing is prepared, no dialogue is written and no punchline is rehearsed. Everything comes to life on stage, inspired by the audience’s ideas and suggestions. A single word, an unusual place or a particular relationship can grow into whole scenes and stories within moments.
Sometimes it is chaotic and completely mad, sometimes charming, gripping or unexpectedly moving, but it is always unique and can never be repeated. Even the performers do not know where a scene will lead when it begins.
The audience supplies the ingredients from which new stories are made on stage. Of course, nobody has to join in or come up on stage. Watching, enjoying, rooting for the characters and laughing is quite enough.
Look forward to an evening of theatre at which anything can happen at any moment: fresh, unrehearsed, unpredictable and only ever like this on this one night.
“Impro für die besten Zwiebeln”: spontaneous theatre with real flavour, and funny enough to bring tears to your eyes.
